Evangelism should not be about forcing or stuffing Christianity down
people's lives, but to draw them to God. In our search for God,
how we search can highly influence the resulting point. In fact,
the chosen methodology can determine the outcome.
We need to redefine church, much like the comments in Desiring God
(www.DesiringGod.Org): people see it as an institution, an
organization, rather than an organism. We need to make it
grassroots again, make it a community.
A community enables a system of give and take. It does not
constraint people to do a series of things (dogma), but offers the
freedom of expression and self giving.
For example, an organization aims for concensus building, so that
everyone agrees with the main agenda. This indicates the end
rather than the beginning. In contrast, a vibrant community is
defined by differences, new ideas, new approaches, rather than aiming
for agreement with each other.
As a separate note, if the church aims mainly to bring God's kingdom to Earth, that would be a deadend.
