Applied Christianity needed

What we need in evangelism is new approaches in what I would call "Applied Chrstianity" case studies.
Science fictions are the entry way for most people to become interested
in science, and not some long physics lectures with nothing important
to see until the end of the semester. It is the applied
technology that immerse in our everyday lives, the Popular Science or
Scientific American magazines, that inspires us toward science, giving
hope toward success. Otherwise very few devoted followers would
be willing to follow from the start. In essence, most people are
driven by the applicable results in any field.
Same can be said for evangelism. What we need is not more theory,
but applied concrete case studies that people can say "it would matter
to me". This would exclude even many testimonies or Christian
biographies, because, though they are case studies, they cannot be
applied readily to other's lives.
Just
as Jesus uses very mundane, everyday objects and topics to introduce a
deep mystery, we should rephrase the modern needs (mostly
psychological), or problems related to family, social, etc. This would
be an effective way to attract people closer to the mystery of heaven. |
