Prayer as the convergence of faith lived out

While listening to the church speaker's annecdotal story of his wife changing a millionaire music exec's life by simply asking to pray for him, I suddenly realize that prayer is the best approach to many faith-related issues.
Prayer as evangelism tool Currently, with materialism and technology rampant, Christians feel that people either have everything that they need, or have the power to help themselves, and so no way to penetrate anyone with the Gospel. This fear may reflect the basis of their faith, more than the reality of society.
Yet when we ask our friends what we can pray for them, we are demonstrating several points:
- prayer is the result of my faith: a relationship with Jesus Christ
- faith matters, faith is powerful, and can be demonstrated (via prayer)
- I care about you, rather than just sending some info (religion) to you
Prayer is faith lived out. We are demonstrating the "expert" mode of faith. Hence, it is superior in every aspect as a tool in evangelism.
Some thoughts on prayer Films reflect our deep desire. Many recent movies on time travel, such as Back to the Future and the like, try to correct mistakes of the past, thus show our desire for some sort of power to undo the past. Yet perhaps such is possible, as God is timeless, and our prayer can move His hand through space and time.
When we pray, we usually pray for people near us, and some times people far away. I once had the sensation when praying that my prayers can actually allow my efforts and strengths to go through a teleport (physics call it worm-holes) to reach someone far away.
Yet just as our prayers can travel through space to effect others, why not travel through time as well. For events that we had no knowledge yet, but back in time, we can still pray for and ask God to intervene.
If such thoughts do not excite you toward prayer, then nothing will!
