This sample newsletter for "Resource Ministry update" shows the kind of unconventional activities that a church can undertake.

Many of you are interested in our
experiences at the Chinese Missions Conference in the last week of
December. I will upload the audio-files to my favorite sessions as they
become available. In the mean time, see my summary of the highlights

Vision
This
past Sunday NHF considered ministry teams. The vision for the Resource
Ministry is Ministry Innovations. As presented in the latest NHF
newsletter, (PDF now available at http://www.newhopefellowship.org/content/view/45/63/),
it focuses on unstructured areas of faith innovations, ranging from
resources, web tools, collaborative projects, interaction with other
organizations, exploration, creating tools, and non-conventional
training of the next generation. Email me if you'd like to get
involved, or simply want to share any recommendations or reviews.
Recent offerings
In case you are not aware, some recent offerings of the NHF resource ministry are:
• books and videos of ordinary lives with extraordinary faith
• particularly those of Christian women
• many books on Christian marriage, in response to the marriage seminar, and in preparation for Valentines Day
• books related to vision, mission, making a difference
• The Cross in China: history, persecution, and the current trend of World Christianity
Below are highlights of a few new efforts this year:
Shared video collection:
We will make use of Netflix to effect a large faith video collection. The way it will work:
1. You can sign up to participate in this activity, or simply to receive weekly video recommendation by email
2. Participants will take turn getting the videos on Sunday,
under the condition that you will finish the video within the week.
3.
If there are others in line, you will bring the video back to
church. Otherwise, you will drop the video into your nearest mailbox
once you are done.
The use of a video rental service demands your timely return,
and hence will improve the overall turnover rate as well as avoid some
of our current maintenance issues.
Audio Listening
One
of the ways that busy Christians can have time for personal growth is
through audio listening during their commute hour, shopping, etc. We
have a large supply of both software and hardware to help you achieve
this goal. If you already have an MP3 player, we can supply you with
audiobooks or praise songs of many formats. If you don't, we have lots
of MP3 players. If you have trouble listening in your car, we have FM
signal broadcasters to send your audio signal to your car radio. ...
Portable Reading
When the Amazon Kindle or the
Sony Reader becomes available, we will get a couple, filled with 100's
of Christian titles, and loan out on a weekly basis. We hope the
novelty aspect of these devices will encourage you to do more reading
than you normally would. We will be charging a fee, so the more you
read, the more you get your money's worth!
