Evangelism thoughts
Thoughts on the use of personality profiling in evangelism.

OpenEvangelism

10 Faces of Innovation and The Art of Innovation by Tom Kelley

inspired me to consider new techniques for evangelism, and share those ideas with other Christians

  • While Sam has heard al the amazing stories and miracles that occurred in my life, yet these are no more useful for attracting one toward faith than when our nanny told us of the supernatural occurences in her belief in Buhdism.

  • The key thing is not to emphasize on what they would get out of religion, but to encourage people to seek meaning in life, the deep yearnings and desires that Eldredge writes about.

  • A scientist does not easily give up on the search, in lack of progress or results, to simply give up and claim there is nothing there. Instead, they continue their search in faith, for the underlying hidden order and mysteries of the natural world. How much more we need to do this in the unseen spiritual world.

  • What propels a scientist to continue? It must be his desire for meaning and order, and passion for discovery. Similarly we need to fuel this, perhaps early on in teenagers, the yearning for the beauty and magnificience of God.

  • While I have drawn parallels with the rationally minded individuals, there are others who are more intuitive, and keener sense of spiritual reality. To them I do not hae much guidance to offer, except to share my own stories and struggles, of how God touched me at various times, and the beauty of those precious moments of encounter.

  • In summary, depending on the type of individual, we must tailor our spiritual mentoring style to suit their needs and yearnings.
